Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes The Distinctive Style Atelier different from other personal stylists and image consultants?
The Distinctive Style Atelier is founded by Lizzie Parsons, a Federation of Image Professionals International (FIPI)–qualified Image Consultant with over 11 years of experience in styling, colour theory, and personal image development.
My approach combines evidence-based image theory with an intuitive, artistic eye — drawn from over a decade of working with real women, across every age, shape, and stage of life.
I work with three key frameworks:
The Tonal Method and Bespoke of Colour Analysis — a modern, precise approach that considers temperature, value, and chroma to create a bespoke colour palette that harmonises with your natural tones and energy.
Body Shape & Silhouette Theory — looking not only at proportions, but also how your body moves and where weight is distributed, for the most flattering and functional recommendations.
Style Personality Theory — a psychology-based framework that helps you express your individuality and emotional rhythm through what you wear.
These theories work together to create insight that’s both scientifically sound and emotionally resonant — grounded in expertise, elevated by intuition.
We don’t start with what looks good.
We start with what feels true — and your real style follows, guided by Lizzie here at The Distinctive Style Atelier.
Most styling focuses on appearance. Ours begins with alignment.
Through emotionally intelligent analysis and years of expertise, we help you rediscover a style that feels grounded, confident, and entirely your own.
This is not about reinvention or trends — it’s about resonance and self-recognition.
2. What types of sessions do you offer?
All sessions are one-to-one, designed to meet you exactly where you are.
They include:
Colour Analysis & Colour DNA™ Mapping — using the tonal method of colour analysis to reveal your most resonant hues and how to combine them harmoniously. Every palette is bespoke and deeply personal.
Body Shape & Silhouette Analysis — exploring not just proportions, but how your body moves and where weight is distributed — for style advice that truly honours your natural lines and presence.
Style Personality Consultations — identifying your unique aesthetic rhythm and emotional tone in clothing.
Wardrobe Editing & Outfit Building — refining, organising, and creating wearable combinations that reflect your life and energy now.
Personal Shopping — both new and consciously sourced, including vintage and second-hand pieces for sustainable wardrobe building.
Each service is bespoke — you’ll leave with insight, clarity, and tools that support your new understanding of style.
3. Do you work in person or online?
Both.
I offer in-person consultations across the UK and international travel for private clients.
Online sessions are also available for clients worldwide via Zoom.
Wherever we meet, the process is personal, professional, and completely attuned to you.
4. Do you charge for travel?
Travel within 10 miles of Twyford, Berkshire is included.
For locations beyond that radius, a small additional fee applies to cover travel time and expenses — confirmed clearly before booking.
5. What can I expect from a session?
A calm, intelligent, and collaborative experience that starts where you are.
We explore colour, shape, and self-expression through guided conversation and visual demonstration.
You’ll leave with clarity, confidence, and practical tools that make getting dressed easier, more expressive, and more grounded in who you are.
6. What should I bring or prepare?
Nothing except openness.
If you’d like, bring 3–5 favourite pieces (and one or two that never feel right). They help us see what draws you instinctively and what holds you back.
You don’t need a perfect wardrobe before you begin — that’s what we’ll create together.
7. How long do sessions last?
Sessions range from 90 minutes (for a Resonant Reset™) to a full day (for wardrobe or shopping experiences).
Your session length and format are confirmed in advance, so everything feels calm and structured.
8. What do I receive afterwards?
Depending on your service, you’ll receive:
A bespoke Resonant Map™ — capturing your colour palette, silhouette guidance, and emotional touchstones.
Personalised wardrobe and outfit-building direction.
A concise digital follow-up guide with recommendations, notes, and next steps.
Optional digital lookbook or shopping suggestions matched to your tone, shape, and lifestyle.
You’ll finish with both insight and the tools to support your new knowledge — ready to dress with ease and confidence.
9. How do I book and pay?
Once your session is confirmed, payment is taken in advance to secure your booking.
You’ll receive a clear invoice or payment link with your session details and preparation notes.
All major payment methods are accepted.
10. What’s your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable, but I’ll always try to offer a new date where possible.
If I’m unwell or unable to deliver your session, I’ll contact you immediately to rearrange or offer a full refund.
Your experience and trust come first.
11. What if I’m nervous or unsure?
You don’t have to arrive confident — that’s what the work is for.
Most women come to me feeling disconnected or uncertain about how to dress for who they are now.
I’ll meet you there, without judgment, and guide you through a process that feels calm, intelligent, and reassuring.
12. Do you offer gift experiences or collaborations?
Yes.
I offer both digital and printed gift experiences, as well as limited collaborations with aligned brands, creative studios, and media partners.
For partnership or PR enquiries, please email hello@distinctivestyleatelier.co.uk.
13. What happens after my session?
You’ll have the clarity and tools to continue independently — but many clients return seasonally for wardrobe reviews, outfit updates, or Resonant Presence™ sessions.
Style is not a fixed outcome; it’s an ongoing dialogue between who you are and how you show it.
